To divert commercial food waste from the Northwest Arkansas landfill, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping to create nutrient-rich compost for local gardeners and growers.
Meet the Team
Richard Ims
Founder & CEO
Richard has experience in both the corporate world and as an entrepreneur. After recognizing the dire need to reduce food waste, he launched FRS for NW Arkansas in 2019. He wants to proudly tell his grandchildren that he took action on reducing waste and climate change. Richard is also co-founder of the Carbon Chicken Innovation Project.
Donna Porter
Partnership Development
Donna holds a B.S. in Horticulture from the University of Arkansas. She was the Founder and first Executive Director of the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, Inc. Her personal mission is to continue working to help support a clean and green planet.
David Norman
Organic Collection Specialist
David is a CDL driver and professional mechanic, who keeps our all-important, customized collections truck in safe, orderly and tip-top working condition. He’s been an essential, devoted employee of FRS since its inception and has owned mechanic shops and other ventures.
Juan Carlos Hernandez
Collections Assistant
Juan is our right-seated, organics expert in the truck each day. He assists in daily route planning, assuring that each pick up of food waste is performed with care and efficiency and the load is deposited at the city composting facility in a timely manner.
Our Recycling Partners
To advance our mission, we partner with locally owned and operated Food Loops, which provides compostable takeout containers and bin liners for businesses and zero-waste events. For more information, visit www.foodloops.net.
All food waste collected by Food Recycling Solutions is deposited daily at the Fayetteville Recycling Center in south Fayetteville. Here, the transformation into high-quality compost takes place, thanks to the expertise of the center’s staff. The finished compost is nutrient-rich, full of beneficial microbial life, and ideal for regenerating garden or landscape soil. It is available at an affordable price.
